UPDATE – REOPENED: LA 164 in Webster Parish
(UPDATE 5/24/2021 6:00PM): DOTD advises motorists that LA 164 between Ponder Road and Sherwood Lane near Sibley in Webster Parish has been REOPENED.
The contractor will now proceed with the patch, mill and overlay portion of the project. This will require intermittent lane closures as work progresses, and traffic will often be allowed through the construction zone through the use of a flagging operation. Motorists should be prepared for possible delays during these operations.
DOTD strongly urges motorists to pay attention to advance warning signs prior to entering the work zone, adhere to the posted speed limit, and avoid driving distracted at all times.

(UPDATE (5/21/2021): Due to recent inclement weather, the road closure on LA 164 between Ponder Road and Sherwood Lane near Sibley in Webster Parish is extended until Tuesday, May 25, 2021 to allow the contractor to perform the necessary dirt work for the roadway elevation portion of this project.
DOTD would like to remind motorists to pay attention to advance warning signage indicating an upcoming road closure, and to NEVER drive around 'Road Closed' barricades at any time for any reason. These actions are unlawful and extremely unsafe.

Previous notification:
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Friday, May 7, 2021, LA 164 between Ponder Road and Sherwood Lane near Sibley in Webster Parish will be closed.
This road closure is scheduled to last for approximately two (2) weeks, and is necessary to allow the contractor to raise the elevation of the roadway in order to alleviate flooding issues. All vehicles will need to detour.
This work is related to the $2.5 million project to mill & overlay LA 164 from LA 163 in Doyline to US 371 in Sibley, repair the roadway base, and improve drainage along this section.
During other construction work, intermittent lane closures will be required, and local traffic will always have access.
The entire project is anticipated to be complete in late 2021, with progress dependent on weather conditions.
Alternate route:
- Motorists wishing to travel west on LA 164 (on the east side of the closure) will be detoured north on US 371 to I-20 westbound to LA 157 southbound to LA 614 back to LA 164.
- Motorists wishing to travel east on LA 164 (on the west side of the closure) will be routed to US 80 east to US 371 southbound to LA 164. Detour signage will be in place.
Restrictions/Permits: Detour signage should be followed around the closure.
This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
