Plenary Infrastructure Belle Chasse announces upcoming road closures on North Tunnel Road near the existing Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel in Plaquemines Parish.
Beginning on May 3, 2021, the east portion of North Tunnel Road, from the closure gate to East X Street will be closed.
In addition, the park on the northside of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway will be closed to the public. The closures are necessary to allow for utility relocations, delivery of construction materials and equipment, and the building of the new Belle Chasse Bridge.
Authorized personnel will retain access to the area.
Detour Info:
West side of North Tunnel Road: Take a U-turn at the road closure on North Tunnel Road and turn left (west) onto West X Street. Turn right (north) on Engineers Road. At the stop light, turn right to enter LA23 southbound or turn left to enter LA23 northbound.
Please note, the east portion of North Tunnel Road will be a permanent closure. After construction of the new bridge and demolition of the existing bridge, the park will undergo reconstruction and reopen to the public in 2025.
