The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an upcoming Interstate 10 westbound night closure in Jefferson Parish.

Westbound I-10 at Loyola Drive will be fully closed beginning at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020 until 8 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020. The closure will also take place from 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020, until 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2020.

In anticipation of the complete closure, the left lane of I-10 westbound will be closed each night at 7:30 p.m.

All westbound I-10 traffic will be detoured to the Loyola Drive exit ramp and continue straight through the Loyola intersection to re-enter Westbound I-10.

The complete closure is necessary to hang steel girders that cross over the entire westbound roadway. The girders are part of the future flyover ramp from I-10 west directly to the airport.

Access to the airport will be maintained.

As a detour, motorists traveling on I-10 west can take U.S. 61 (Airline Drive) to I-310 north and enter onto I-10 west.

Local traffic is encouraged to use Williams Boulevard, Power Boulevard and West Esplanade Avenue as alternate routes.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

Drivers can check 511la.org to stay up to date on current traffic conditions.
