Update: The ferry service will continue daily 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice. The service was originally set to end on Friday, November 27.

Jefferson Parish
- Due to the emergency closure of the Bayou Barataria Bridge in Jefferson Parish, DOTD will offer a free vehicular ferry service for residents in the Barataira community beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25 to relocate their vehicles to the Lafitte side of Bayou Barataria.

The loading of the ferry will take place at Joe’s Landing from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Friday, November 27. The ferry will be able to carry six to eight vehicles each trip, with each trip taking approximately one hour. As this service is only being provided to allow residents to relocate their vehicles to the Lafitte side of Bayou Barataria, residents will not be allowed to return their vehicle to the Barataria side.

There will be no bus service provided for the vehicular ferry at Joe’s Landing. The bus and pedestrian ferry service at the Town Hall location will remain in place 24 hours daily until the bridge is opened to vehicular traffic. Residents can call the Town of Jean Lafitte at (504) 689-2208 for additional information.
