UPDATE - REOPENED: US 79 in Homer, Claiborne Parish


UPDATE (11/12/2020): US 79 has been REOPENED to traffic. Please travel safely.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, effective immediately, US 79 just north of the square in downtown Homer, Claiborne Parish is CLOSED due to a water main blowout that has impacted the integrity of the roadway.

The road closure, which is effective in both the northbound and southbound directions, is located between the square (LA 3062) and near LA 540 (N. 5th Street).

There is currently no estimated time frame on reopening the roadway, but crews are mobilizing in order to conduct repairs as quickly as possible.

The water main is owned by the Town of Homer.

Alternate route: Detour signage will be in place.

Restrictions/Permits: N/A

This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
