UPDATE: LA 23 SB (Belle Chasse Tunnel) Closure

UPDATE: The tunnel cleaning has been postponed.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the southbound lanes of LA 23 through the Belle Chasse Tunnel will be closed on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 7 p.m. until Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 5 a.m.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to clean the tunnel. All work is weather permitting.

As an alternate route, motorists can take the Judge Perez Bridge (LA 23) in either direction.
