Lake Charles- Due to a United States Coast Guard (USCG) mandate, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the Grand Lake Bridge and the Black Bayou Bridge will have extensive nightly closures from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning Friday, September 4. These closures are required by the USCG to allow the vessels currently held up in the Intercostal Waterway to pass through. The cargo on these vessels are critical to the recovery of the area following the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.

Emergency vehicles will have access to the area.

DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
