The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced today that beginning Friday, August 21, construction will begin on a $1.5 million project to reconstruct La. 86 from La. 347 to La. 31 in Iberia Parish.

The project will include milling asphaltic concrete, subgrade and base course reconstruction, new asphalt concrete pavement, rumble strips, striping, and related work.

The work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

There will be intermittent lane closures throughout the project. The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot maximum width restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone.

Emergency vehicles will have access to the area but may encounter delays.

The project is estimated for completion in December 2020.

DOTD appreciates your patience. Drivers are encouraged to use caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
