Baton Rouge, LA - For the safety of the traveling public and for ferry boat personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) requests that motorists wear face masks when boarding a ferry on the toll collection side. Additionally, masks must be worn when interacting with DOTD employees. This is in accordance with Gov. John Bel Edwards’ renewal of the Phase 2 Resilient Louisiana proclamation that includes a statewide mask mandate, 96 JBE 2020 Section 3, which applies to public transportation.

In an effort to help minimize possible exposure to COVID-19, DOTD requests that motorists remain in their vehicles when traveling on ferries. However, masks must be worn if drivers leave their vehicles for any reason.
