DOTD to improve two roadways in DeSoto Parish

SHREVEPORT – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces improvements to two different highways in the southern portion of DeSoto Parish.

The $5.6 million project will repair portions of LA 512 and LA 483 near the Pelican community. This includes the section of LA 512 from US 171 to LA 483, just south of Pelican, and LA 483 from LA 512 to LA 175. Together, a little over 7.5 miles of roadway will be improved.

The project will provide repairs to the base of each roadway, milling to remove the top layer of the roadway, an asphalt overlay, new pavement striping, and other related work.

This work to improve these roadways will lengthen their service lives and strengthen their ability to withstand travel loads for many more years.

Lane closures will be necessary as work progresses, and notifications regarding any closures will be issued via the MyDOTD subscription system.

The project is anticipated to begin in early August, with a completion estimated in late Spring 2021, weather permitting.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience as construction gets underway, and urges the public to travel with caution through the work zone, being on the lookout for crews and their equipment.

Motorists can access up-to-date travel information by dialing 511 or by visiting www.511la.org. Out-of-state travelers can call 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511). Additional information can be found at www.dotd.la.gov, and by visiting the DOTD Facebook and Twitter pages.
