DOTD to perform extensive statewide cleanup along high-traffic areas

Baton Rouge- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that over the next two weeks maintenance crews will be present in usually high-traffic areas throughout the state as part of an extensive cleanup effort to beautify our state roadways. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for moving crews and their equipment.
Crews are able to perform these maintenance operations along busy state routes due to the significantly reduced traffic volumes from the stay at home order put in place by Governor Edwards. There will be minimized impacts to traffic while crews pickup litter, clean up debris, trim overhanging trees, and remove overgrown vegetation in a safe environment.
DOTD would like to remind motorists to please help keep Louisiana beautiful and save taxpayer dollars by not littering. In the 2018/2019 fiscal year, this Department spent approximately $9.5 million on picking up over 50,000 cubic yards of litter across the state.
