SPEED LIMIT INCREASE: US 165 from Kingsville to Ball, Rapides Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists of a speed limit change on US 165 from Kingsville to the north end of Ball in Rapides Parish.

The posted speed along this section of US 165 will be increased from 45 mph to 55 mph for the entire stretch between the north end of Kingsville to just north of LA 1204 (Camp Livingston Rd.) in Ball. DOTD expects to begin installing signs to reflect this speed change on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. The signage change will be weather dependent.

It’s been proven that posted speed limits that align with the 85th percentile speed of drivers create safer roadways and allow for a more efficient flow of traffic along a corridor. Speed studies were conducted that produced results favoring the increase of the posted speed limit.

DOTD continuously works to ensure the transportation infrastructure provided by taxpayers’ investments is operated as safely and efficiently as possible.

DOTD is working with local law enforcement agencies as this change goes into effect, and advises motorists to be aware of the increase and drive with caution.
