Baton Rouge- In an effort to minimize interaction with the public due to the virus COVID-19, commonly referred to as the coronavirus, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is taking preventative measures for Department wide services.

Beginning March 13, all public meetings will be postponed until further notice. These meeting will be rescheduled and announced via the MYDOTD service and online at DOTD’s website. Internal trainings have also been postponed.

DOTD is asking all motorists who are using the ferries to remain in their vehicles as a precaution to limit the amount of interaction between riders. Additionally, motorists who use the LA 1 toll bridge at Leeville are encouraged to sign up for GeauxPass, a state wide electronic tolling system that utilizes online payments through a pre-paid tag. Eliminating the exchange of cash will assist in slowing the spreading of the virus.

The purchasing of all permits and electronic bidding for construction lettings will continue as scheduled, however, no-walks in will be permitted. Information pertaining to these services can be found on our website. It is preferred that business transactions be handled electronically or by phone when possible.
