UPDATE - ROAD CLOSURE: LA 2 Alt at US 79, Haynesville, Claiborne Parish
UPDATE: This closure has been RESCHEDULED for Wednesday, March 11, 2020. LA 2 Alt immediately east of its intersection with US 79 in Haynesville, Claiborne Parish will be closed in both directions.
This closure is necessary to allow the LA Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to remove underground tanks that are adjacent to the roadway. DOTD will be assisting the operation by providing traffic control and detours.
Alternate Route: Passenger vehicles traveling will be detoured through the Town of Haynesville.
All 18-wheelers and other large trucks traveling eastbound will be detoured via US 79 southbound to LA 2 eastbound to Bernice, up US 167 northbound, back to LA 2 Alt westbound.
Westbound traffic will be detoured to LA 2 Alt eastbound to Bernice, US 167 southbound, back to LA 2 Alt westbound, to US 79 northbound.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 and Wednesday, February 19, 2020, LA 2 Alt immediately east of its intersection with US 79 in Haynesville, Claiborne Parish will be closed in both directions.
