UPDATE – REOPENED: Lane closure on I-12 in St. Tammany Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the lane closure on I-12 in St. Tammany Parish is no longer in place, and the roadway has been REOPENED.

DOTD crews detected a void under the travel lane of the interstate, located approximately one mile west of US 190, and mobilized quickly to fill the void with concrete to prevent a failure of the roadway.

This work was completed approximately 10 hours earlier than originally anticipated in an effort to minimize the impact to the traveling public.

“The safety of the everyone who drives on our transportation system always has been – and always will be – our number one priority,” said DOTD Secretary Dr. Shawn Wilson. “Whether it’s an interstate or a rural highway, we want to reassure the traveling public that we’re working diligently every single day to monitor our roadways and address any needs as quickly as possible.”
