INTERMITTENT LANE CLOSURES: I-49 near LA 3194 (MLK Dr.), Caddo Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, beginning immediately, there will be intermittent lane closures on I-49 northbound and southbound near the LA 3194 (Dr. Martin Luther King Drive) interchange in Shreveport, Caddo Parish.

These lane closures are related to a $7 million project to install 35 miles of cable barriers in the median of I-49 from MLK Dr. to the Arkansas state line.

The contractor is beginning preliminary installation work at the MLK Dr. interchange, and will progress northward with construction.

The barriers are designed to absorb the impact of an automobile, redirecting the vehicle along the median and helping to prevent a potentially fatal cross over crash.

The project is anticipated to wrap up in Spring 2020, with work always dependent on weather conditions.

This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
