DOTD announces installation of new traffic signal in Ruston, Lincoln Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of LA 33, LA 821 and Frazier Road just north of Ruston in Lincoln Parish.

Statewide traffic crews are completing the last of the required work and the anticipated activation date of the new signal is Wednesday, August 14, 2019 or Thursday, August 15, 2019, with activation dependent on weather conditions.

The DOTD District Traffic Section conducted a study to determine whether the conditions of the intersection would meet the necessary warrants for a new traffic signal. That study produced results indicating that a traffic signal would be appropriate at the intersection, which was previously stop-controlled. These warrants are based on criteria set by state and federal regulations.

This change in traffic pattern will be an adjustment for residents, so DOTD urges motorists to drive with caution through the area.
