BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that nine projects around the state were let on May 29, 2019. Eight contractors presented apparent low bids totaling $8.7 million.
“This latest letting yields an almost $9 million investment in infrastructure,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “We’re pleased to have two bridge replacement projects in this list, but we have a long way to go in maintaining our transportation system. I’m committed to continuing the use of innovative means to secure funding so that everybody in Louisiana will benefit from our state’s infrastructure.”
The projects and their apparent low bids are as follows:
Bridge Replacement and Repair:
- Replacement of George Mashon Road and Travis Street bridges in Livingston Parish: $1,390,511.75
- Replacement of bridge on Cypress Creek Road over Boatwright Creek in Union Parish: $391,846.10
Pavement/ Overlay:
- Milling and overlay of LA 990 between 6th Street and Ed Lejeune Street in West Baton Rouge Parish: $124,381.87
- Pavement replacement on I-20 Quebec Road overpass approaches in Madison Parish: $425,106.15
- Overlay, striping, and pavement markings on I-10 between Canal Street and St. Philip Street in Orleans Parish: $1,997,997.00
- Patching and rehabilitation of LA 3234, U.S. 190, U.S. 51, and U.S. 51-X in Tangipahoa Parish: $1,307,179.50
Congestion Mitigation and Safety:
- Traffic signal upgrades on U.S. 51 BUS near CM Fagan Drive in Tangipahoa Parish: $153,734.38
- Traffic signal upgrades/flashing yellow arrow throughout Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, Franklin, LaSalle, and Tensas parishes: $765,050.99
- Curve realignment and shoulders added to LA 308 in Assumption Parish: $2,138,950.16
Construction projects are prioritized by road/bridge condition, urgency of improvements, type/volume of traffic, crash records, unforeseeable emergencies that caused damage, and several other factors.
