Plane near I-10 close to Ascension-EBR parish line scheduled to be removed tomorrow

Baton Rouge - Today, at around 10 a.m., a private aircraft made an emergency landing in a wooded area close to I-10 near the Ascension and East Baton Rouge parish line. The eastbound travel lanes were temporarily shut down so that Louisiana State Police could respond to the crash. All lanes are now open and will remain open throughout the night.
DOTD, the Louisiana State Police, and the pilot’s insurance company will coordinate to remove the plane as early as tomorrow, weather permitting, during non-peak hours. There will be lane closures associated with this removal. Drivers are urged not to slow down to look at the plane, as this leads to added congestion.
