Dept. of Transportation and Development Announces Bid Results for Statewide Projects

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that 24 projects around the state were let on February 13, 2019, highlighted by the $13.6 million new interchange at Pecue Lane in Baton Rouge. Seventeen contractors presented apparent low bids totaling $58 million.

“We’re thrilled to announce the letting of 24 new projects across the state, most notably the beginning of construction of the new Pecue Lane interchange on I-10 in Baton Rouge,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “These projects demonstrate what the state can do and what this administration is willing to accomplish when resources are provided. Despite our funding problems, we will continue to do what we can so motorists will continue to benefit from roadway and safety improvements.”

The projects and their apparent low bids are as follows:

Bridge Replacement and Repair:
  • Replacement of Randall/Vitrano Road bridges in Tangipahoa Parish: $1,556,661.06
  • Replacement of bridge at Babin Road and Bayou Narcisse in Ascension Parish: $750,602.40
  • Electrical and mechanical repairs to Woodlawn Bridge in Vermilion Parish: $528,000.00
Pavement/ Overlay:
  • Milling, patching, and overlay on U.S. 84 between the Mississippi River Bridge and LA 3180 in Concordia Parish: $2,562,019.70
  • Grading, milling, patching, and overlay on LA 42 between LA 427 and LA 3246 in East Baton Rouge Parish: $1,705,561.94
  • Grading, milling, patching, paving, overlay, and drainage on LA 1 between Valentine Bridge and Elson Lane in Lafourche Parish: $4,792,128.30
  • Grading, milling, patching, paving, and drainage on Airline Park Boulevard between Camphor Street and West Napoleon Avenue in Jefferson Parish: $6,033,333.66
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 520 between U.S. 79 and LA 2 ALT in Claiborne Parish: $1,159,704.65
  • Milling, overlay, and drainage on LA 347 between LA 740 and LA 31 in St. Landry Parish: $3,852,374.62
  • Milling, patching, paving, and drainage on LA 959 between LA 67 and LA 63 in East Feliciana Parish: $8,062,755.99
  • Grading, milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on I-10 south service road between Morrison Road and Paris Road in Orleans Parish: $1,503,043.70
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on I-10 north service road between Williams Boulevard and Orleans Parish line in Jefferson Parish: $1,780,746.77
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and bridge repairs on LA 38 between St. Helena Parish line and I-55 in Tangipahoa Parish: $594,569.55
Congestion Mitigation and Safety:

  • New interchange at I-10 and Pecue Lane in East Baton Rouge Parish: $13,631,061.16
  • Roundabout on LA 16 at LA 447 in Livingston Parish: $1,289,718.01
  • Curve realignment and tunnel construction for Tammany Trace on LA 59 in St. Tammany Parish: $3,502,082.99
  • Asphalt widening to add turn lane on LA 338 at LA 14 bypass in Vermilion Parish: $757,161.58
  • Asphalt widening to add turn lane on LA 182 at LA 24 in Terrebonne Parish: $293,333.00
  • Mini roundabout at Audubon Avenue and Ardoyne Drive in Lafourche Parish: $270,476.60
  • Removal of median crossovers on U.S. 90 in Iberia and St. Mary parishes: $755,964.61
Other:
  • Sidewalks and landscaping along LA 302 in Jean Lafitte in Jefferson Parish: $404,252.79
  • Sidewalk improvements, traffic calming, and speed reduction improvements at I.A. Lewis Elementary School in Lincoln Parish: $228,633.97
  • Removal of pedestrian overpass on I-20 in Caddo Parish: $466,548.50
Construction projects are prioritized by road/bridge condition, urgency of improvements, type/volume of traffic, crash records, unforeseeable emergencies that caused damage, and several other factors.
