UPDATE: REOPENED – I-20 westbound near downtown Shreveport, Caddo Parish


UPDATE: Work to remove the overhead sign truss was completed this morning and I-20 in Shreveport has been REOPENED.

Original notification:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that on Sunday, May 20, 2018 starting at 12:00 a.m. midnight, I-20 westbound near downtown Shreveport, Caddo Parish will be closed.

The closure is expected to last approximately six (6) hours, and is necessary to remove an overhead truss sign that spans both lanes of I-20 westbound.

The truss is located just west of where the overhead flyover ramp from LA 1 northbound ties in to I-20 westbound (just east of the Line Avenue/Common Street interchange).

Alternate Route: All I-20 westbound traffic will be forced off onto I-220 westbound in Bossier City. The on ramp from US 80 to I-220 westbound will be closed in Bossier City.

All I-20 westbound traffic crossing the Red River Bridge will be forced off at the LA 1 (Spring St./Market St.) Interchange. Traffic will be detoured to the south on LA 1 and will be turned back northbound onto LA 1 by Earnest’s Supper Club. Traffic can then return to I-20 westbound on the flyover ramp.

Restrictions/Permits: N/A

This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
