Baton Rouge, La.- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the closing of I-10 in both directions between Baton Rouge and Lafayette. In spite of pretreating Interstate 10 in both directions since Tuesday morning, the rapidly freezing temperatures across this stretch of interstate caused this stretch to be deemed impassable. Steep on and off-ramps as well as elevated roadways are concerns to public safety in icy conditions.

Motorists are advised to stay off the roadways because many roads are becoming impassable due to the winter weather conditions.

DOTD crews continue to monitor the state bridges and roadways and apply de-icing agents when necessary. However, the Department anticipates additional closings of major corridors throughout the night and into the morning.

Other intestate closures:

• Interstate 210 in Calcasieu Parish
• Interstate 220 in Caddo and Bossier parishes
• Interstate 49 from north of Shreveport to the Arkansas State Line
• Interstate I-110 in East Baton Rouge Parish
