KENNER, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation has issued a notice to proceed to contractor Barriere Construction Co., L.L.C. to begin construction of the New Orleans Airport Connector Road, a temporary roadway project to complement the current North Terminal Expansion project in progress at Louis Armstrong International Airport.

The connector, which will serve as a primary access route until the planned Loyola Drive at Interstate 10 Interchange project can be built, is contracted with the City of Kenner, with DOTD serving as the project administrator. The future interchange project will include a dedicated flyover ramp for airport access. Currently, three (3) alternatives are being considered for the final design concept and funding for the project is not yet secured.

Barriere anticipates construction of the $6.8 million temporary roadway project to begin in mid-January 2018 and be completed by January 2019.
