PROJECT UPDATE

HARVEY, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation announces that the 4th Street Bridge in Harvey (on La. 18) will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning Wed., September 6 through Wed., November 15, 2017, for mechanical and electrical rehabilitation of bridge components. Additionally, the waterway will be closed to marine traffic as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will work concurrently on the lock structure.

The work is part of an ongoing $7 million project to improve the bridge, which is estimated for completion in summer 2018 pending fabrication of structural materials and a planned closure, to be coordinated with the U.S. Coast Guard and The Corps. C.E.C. Inc., is the contractor.

All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near an active work zone.
