BATON ROUGE, LA - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced today that five projects were let on August 16, and five contractors presented apparent low bids. The bids totaled $26.9 million.

The projects and their apparent low bids are as follows:

  • U.S. 71 railroad overpass replacement near Tioga in Rapides Parish: $11,067,709.30
  • U.S. 190 pavement repair between LA 16 and LA 447 in Livingston Parish: $3,269,397.15
  • LA 660 overlay between LA 182 and LA 316 in Terrebonne Parish: $1,340,369.86
  • I-10 bridge joint repair in Lake Charles in Calcasieu Parish: $9,964,286.92
  • Magnolia Garden Bridge rehabilitation in New Orleans in Orleans Parish: $1,305,663.10
“We’re accountable to every Louisiana citizen to use the resources we have to maintain and improve our infrastructure system,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “The state is in need of many important infrastructure projects such as these, but the lack of sustained, long-term funding will limit the number and scope of what the state can complete. However, we will do our best to continue investing in transportation improvements.”

The five projects are part of the DOTD’s Highway Priority Program, which is presented to the state legislature and includes a list of prioritized projects to be constructed in the following fiscal year. Construction projects are prioritized by road/bridge condition, urgency of improvements, type/volume of traffic, crash records, unforeseeable emergencies that caused damage, and several other factors.
