NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the Chef Menteur Bridge on U.S. 90 in New Orleans East is closed to marine traffic due to loss of shore power and possible storm damage to a generator as a result of Tuesday’s tornadoes.

An electrician will be on site Wednesday morning to assess repairs. The timeframe for repair is unknown.

All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near an active work zone.
