Water main break forces emergency closure of Veteran’s Boulevard in Jefferson Parish

KENNER
, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an emergency closure of Veteran’s Boulevard at the Williams Boulevard intersection in Kenner, due to a water main break.

Currently, traffic is not passing through westbound Veterans and drivers must U-Turn on Williams just before Veterans. Veterans eastbound is partially open and cars can access Williams turning left or right only. Williams northbound is reduced to one lane, while southbound is completely open.

The waterline was damaged by a contractor installing fiber for a communications company at the intersection of Williams and Veterans boulevards. Jefferson Parish's contractor is repairing the waterline and making the temporary repair to the road surface. It is estimated that the intersection will be reopened to traffic by tomorrow evening.

DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
