DOTD announces lanes closures for cable barrier system install

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces intermittent left lane closures in both directions of Interstate 55 from the Mississippi state line to La. 38 in Tangipahoa Parish, beginning Monday, August 22 until Friday, September 9, from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Contractor Command Construction Industries will be working on a new $7.3 million cable barrier system along a 37.5 mile stretch of the interstate. The project began two weeks ago and is estimated for completion by summer 2017.

The right lane will remain open at all times. Motorists may use U.S. 51 as an alternate route.

All work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
