LAROSE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the West Larose Vertical Lift Bridge on La. 1 (crossing the Intracoastal Canal Waterway) will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Crews will be moving large equipment and materials for the north fender beam installation.

This notice extends the current continuous closure by one week so that crews can complete the north and south tower machinery deck repairs, and the south pier fender beam installation.

Alternate route(s) are as follows:

  • ? Northbound: La. 1 across the New Larose Vertical Lift Bridge to La. 308 north
  • ? Southbound: La. 1 across the Belle Vue Swing Bridge (La. 3220) south of Lockport or the T-Bois Vertical Lift Bridge just north of Larose to La. 308 south.
The $24.1 million project is being done by C.E.C., Inc. The project is designed to extend the life of the existing structure and is estimated for completion in fall 2018.
